Can Sun’s practice explores the absurdity of existence, the translation of personal experience, and the emotional tension between the individual and reality. Working across photography, video, installation, text, and object-based forms, he often begins with ordinary and limited materials, condensing lived experience into poetic, restrained, and subtly humorous visual structures.

 

For Can, art-making is not only a way of producing works, but also a continuous process of constructing the self. His works are closely bound to his own life: everyday encounters, fragile emotions, desires, failures, and existential doubts are translated into images, gestures, and material situations. Rather than being an expression separate from life, creation becomes a way to reorganise lived experience and understand one’s own condition.

 

His works treat everyday objects as containers for time, emotion, and existential experience. Through subtle displacements, temporary actions, and arrangements marked by humour, instability, and vulnerability, Can develops a restrained yet distinctive visual language with a quiet tension.
